How Do I Get Traffic To My Website Fast?

By Michael Baker

Targeted website traffic is the key to running a successful online marketing campaign. Whether you are driving the website visitors to an affiliate program site, or to your own website, you need to do your research up front. This little bit of extra effort up front will save you many hours worth of headaches in the end. And, it will also result in a much better conversion for your website.

As I mentioned before, research is the key. You need to really understand the niche you are in, and how people are looking for those products. Half the battle really is trying to get in the mind of the consumer and figure out how they are thinking. If you can do this, then the next step is a piece of cake.

After you find out how the customers are search for products, then you will need to write some articles based on this information. Articles are one of the best methods of driving very targeted traffic to your websites.

The reason is simple. You already know how a person is looking for this stuff. Now, you write an article optimized for that phrase. You know the person reading the article is there because of the research you did up front. In other words, you already have a targeted visitor on your site, looking for exactly what you are selling. Now, you just sell them the product.

Another good thing about articles is they stay around forever. If you write a good article, you can get a ton of very targeted traffic year after year. So, if you are looking for how to get traffic to my website, then I would lean to the article side.

The Internet and the Industrial Marketer

For most of us the passing of millennium occurred more than 8 years ago and we partied like its 1999. Unfortunately Industrial Commodity Manufacturers and their Industrial Distributors at that time were breathing a sigh of relief that the Internet dot com bubble had just burst and maybe they could go back to their stodgy trade shows, printed literature, long product launch cycles, and their beloved Amazon rain forest killer, Thomas Register. The September 11th 2001 World Trade Center attacks helped solidify their message that their mediocre growth can be blamed on a poor economy, after all the competition was in the exact same boat.

In contrast, Amazon.com had promised that we may never have to enter a shopping mall again, and allowed us to purchase products in our pajamas, and for everything we bought, they would offer complimentary items; the cross-sell. FedEx had switched off their phones and laid off their customer service tracking team in favor of a self-service website that allowed us to track our own packages. And the epitome of them all, the once stodgy banking industry, that invented the term banking hours (remember driving white knuckled at 100mph down Main Street at 2:55pm to deposit that check before 3:00pm only to be greeted by a teller turning the open sign on the door to closed, whilst simultaneously pointing at her watch, mouthing "come back on Monday."), have completely embraced the value of customer self-service, by offering on-line banking and ATM service at a relatively small cost to us; so why do we do it? Value! The banks have in theory freed up their tellers to work on more value added customer service such as writing loans and selling bonds. I salute the banking industry for having the foresight to change a once dull industry and completely reinvent themselves, imagine, actually charging us for doing their work. Brilliant! And don't get me started on supermarket self-service checkouts.
There cannot be an industry that is more tailored to Internet Marketing than the Industrial C- item Commodity Manufacturing Sector. An unglamorous industry with unglamorous products like fasteners, bearings, gauges, switches, etc. that thrives on 3 simple business processes; do you make it? What is my price? When can I get it? This has self-service, cost avoidance, revenue generation, first-mover advantage, brand recognition, channel support, a level of personal security and a sense of well being written all over it.

Model Success and Learn Internet Marketing the Right Way

Do you want a simple strategy to learn Internet marketing and greatly improve your odds of having a successful online business?
There really is a simple concept that most people never really follow. Even though they know it, they just don't get in in their head to do it.

So what is it you ask? The curiosity is building, so let me tell you this principle for successful Internet marketing.

The drum roll please.....
Modeling. Find a business that is already having the success you are looking for and model what they are doing.

Well there you have it. Not too complicated
To succeed it's always a good idea to take what people have already had success with and apply it as your own Internet marketing strategy. Of course I'm not saying it's alright to copy a businesses sales materials, what they have on their website, products exactly. In fact that's just going to get you in a lot of hot water. I'm saying that ideas and techniques that stem from those ideas really can't be copyrighted and to take a proven idea and use it in your Internet marketing strategy would be the smart thing to do.

There's nothing wrong with imitating something that is already working. I mean it would be ridiculous if everyone started from scratch for everything they did. Don't reinvent the wheel, but rather take an already successful plan that you know has the best chance of success and even try to improve on it. There are so many examples that I could show you, but one that stands out for me are the many reality television shows that have modeled themselves after the popular show American Idol.

This show is so successful that we have seen many copy cats in the last 3 or 4 years. These are other shows on different networks with a different theme, but the same format. You watch these shows and they have all the ingredients of the hit show. For example, the 3 judge panel with one female and two males. They make sure they have an outspoken male judge with an English or Australian accent. Well, we could probably put them side by side and see they are pretty much the same, but again a different theme and title.

All of the networks have seen the outstanding success of this show and they also want to ride its success. They follow the successful plan with their own theme.

They are not going to waste a lot of money on a plan that might flop.
So go ahead and find a type of business you want to build and look for those in your industry that are having the success you want. Then follow the plan they have already laid out for you. But of course never, I mean never copy some one's business word for word and get yourself into legal trouble. If you are ever in doubt, seek legal advice to stay out of trouble.

Let me give you some examples of modeling.

One example is to offer a bonus when you are selling your own product or even as an affiliate. If you observe that the person you are modeling does this and because of it he or she makes a lot of sales, then it would be great to also do it. In fact this is one of those Internet marketing tips that you should always implement in your Internet marketing strategy. Just make sure that it fits well with your main product and it is a quality bonus.

A second example is making sure you have superior customer service. If a top online business gets back to their customers within 24 hours then follow their lead. In fact if you can try to even improve on that to keep your prospects and customers very happy.

What about a prospect and customer list. Follow the lead of successful businesses and build the long term lifeline of your business. This needs to be on top of your priority list and take every opportunity to build a responsive list.
Take a proven successful business model and learn Internet marketing the right way by promoting a completely different product or service in another niche. You can always compete with the same people if you want to, but I would rather have the best opportunity and the least amount of competition.

Just think about all the people online that have no idea what they need to do to put it all together. If you can learn Internet marketing strategies and apply them in non-Internet marketing niches (bass fishing, scrap booking etc.) you can dominate a niche and have great success.

To sum things up, it's crucial that you find a successful business and learn Internet marketing from them. Don't reinvent the wheel, but rather take what others have already proven to work and apply it to make it work for you.
